iCON2008 Berlin now with light program at lowered price

Explanation:

Unfortunately, due to many reasons, it now became impossible for us to stick to our published and planned program in its entirety:

-the planned party for Wednesday June 25th "Gay Night at the Zoo", which we planned for special conditions and offered for you within our program was cancelled now from the organizer.

-our planned boat party on the Wannsee can not take place because of the recent financial risk which is getting too unclear.

Sure you will have the question "why".
Besides the facts that some for our organisation essential aids and planned divisions of the iCON cancelled their support and our promotion especially outside of Germany is hard to achieve, there is especially the following major reason:

Up to the current day we received only just 20 registrations, whereof 16 were paid. Our calculation of the iCON in its previous form requires at least 80 paying participants in order that we will not get an substantial financial damage.

Unfortunately it is not visible for us that in the few weeks up to the beginning of the iCON more than 60 people will register for it.
For that reason we feel impelled to reduce the iCON-program to the poor attendance, to reduce the risk that we will create a huge amount of debts. Otherwise we have to cancel the iCON 2008 in Berlin entirely.

Due to the enormously important importance of the iCON and because of many people already made plans for it, we like to present you the following offer that we created after a recalculation (based on a number of at least 20 paying participants):
-we lower the registration-fee to 140 Euros.
-the boat party and the "Gay Night at the Zoo" will not take place

The following light program will take place:

Sat./Sun. June 21/22: registration and welcome on Europe's biggest queer townfestival.
Mon/Tue June 23/24: explore Berlin (optional)
Wednesday June 25: welcome dinner with Karaoke-Party and surprises
Wednesday/Thursday/Friday June 25/26/27: convention at SPOT-Bar
Saturday June 28: celebrating Christopher Street Day at Berlin´s 30th CSD parade and later at the CSD-party in front of the Siegessäule (Party whole day and night)
Sunday June 29: farewell brunch and closing iCON 2008

The convention at SPOT will be reduced to the following three topics:

1. binational enlisted partnership - yesterday and today
2. Magnus Hirschfeld - workshop about the life and work of Magnus Hirschfeld
This workshop will be supplemented with the movie „The Einstein of Sex“ by Rosa von Praunheim and a visit of a special-exhibition about Magnus Hirschfeld. Optional a visit of the Jewish Museum in Berlin is possible.

We hope that you can understand our reasons to change the program and you will stick to iCON 2008 in Berlin and experience Berlin from it´s best side. Please register as soon as possible at this all-time-low fee and tell anyone who could be interested, so we are able to keep up with the light program together with you and to the satisfaction of all visitors.

Regardless of our iCON the Pride Week in Berlin will be a very big highlight that you should not miss.
