To make it easier for you to join our iCON2008 in Berlin we gathered here some information, in the case you will arrive from outside of Germany. Despite our careful research on that topic we make no clain to completeness or correctness and we cannot guarantee your entry to Germany. Therefore we ask you to check for yourself carefully that you fulfill all the required qualifications. In most of the cases this can be handled without big problems within a short period of time.

For all participants who come from a country with obligatory visa for travelling to Germany (Schengen country), please notice the following:

After you are registered as a iCON2008-participant and paid the registration-fee, we will issue your certificate of attendance with proof of your payment.

Therefore we necessarily your full name, (home) address and your date of birth. Furthermore you need an affirmation from your hotel or host, assuring that during your stay in Berlin for iCON2008 you will have there an accommodation.

With these documents (certificate of attendance, accommodation-assurance) and your round-trip ticket you will have to apply for a visa of the category „visitor-visa for staying less than three month“, what means that the respective German embassy of your country will decide alone about your request at their desk (=without calling in the aliens department in Germany).

It is advisable for the participant to gather all information in advance at the homepage of the respective German embassy of his country and download/fill out the demanded forms.

There it is written very often about the required "invitation-guarantee" of a German. This can be ignored because the required visa for iCON2008 is a „visitor-trip to a seminar/congress“. For visitor-trips to a seminar/congress there are no special actions necessary, which would require an "invitation-guarantee".
